Curricular Notes


Filippo Martone was diagnosed with sarcoidosis in 1990. He graduated in Dentistry and has held academic positions, including Adjunct Professor of Dental Prosthetics and Research Fellow on dental materials at the Alma Mater Studiorum in Bologna, Substitute Lecturer of the Dental Prosthetics Chair at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. He has been practicing privately for over thirty years and is the author and co-author of scientific articles in various medical specialties. In 2011, he founded Amici Contro la Sarcoidosi Italia (NPO), a national association for sarcoidosis assistance and research, of which he has been president ever since. Since 2013, he has collaborated with the European Respiratory Society (Assembly XII - interstitial lung diseases), becoming the Patient Representative of the international ERS Task Force for the revision of sarcoidosis therapy guidelines from 2013 to 2021. Since 2016, he has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the Apnoici Italiani Association (NPO, National Association of People with Sleep Respiratory Disorders) as the adult dental therapies coordinator. From the same year, he has been involved in the establishment of the Sarcoidosis Patients Advisory Group of the European Lung Foundation. Also in 2016, he was appointed ePAG of the European Reference Network - Lung, within which, in 2023, he was appointed Patients Associations Coordinator of the ERN Sarcoidosis Core Network.
